Gill grew up in Central New York surrounded by theatre, and she has thrown herself whole-heartedly into it since she was old enough to walk. Her first experience in lighting was in middle school in Skaneateles, New York. She went to SUNY New Paltz for undergrad, and is currently pursuing her MFA in Lighting Design and Technology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Her interest in lighting design comes particularly from its changeable nature, and the way in which lighting can dictate the whole atmosphere of a production with simple changes. Her other interests include electrician work, costuming, and scenic design.

Outside of theatre Gill spends her time playing DnD with friends, going for walks out in nature, and cooking. She also is an avid lover of animals and museums, with a particular interest in ancient history.
